Plan an outing

Special days like Valentine’s Day call for special places! It doesn’t have to be an ordinary day at home – there’s plenty of ways to make the day (or night) special.

Go to a restaurant.

Have you been wanting to try that new place down the street? Valentine’s Day is the perfect reason to go! A classically popular option for Valentine’s Day, restaurants are a perfect option for a special dinner. They also often have menus designed just for Valentine’s Day for an even more unique experience. Imagine picking up your date with a dozen roses in hand and escorting them to your favorite restaurant, or perhaps one they’ve been wanting to go to. Can it get any better than a thoughtful gift and a wonderful meal?

Tip: since this is such a popular holiday to eat out, you should definitely make reservations to make sure you can get your perfect table!

Visit a museum.

Valentine's Day love - image by Derek ThomsonMake new memories or relive favorite ones with your special someone! Valentine’s Day is a wonderful time to go out and explore where you live. If it’s usually cold during Valentine’s Day where you live, museums are a fantastic choice for creating a unique experience. Not only are museums a great way to connect with your region, but they’re also perfect for showing your loved one that you care about their interests and hobbies. Perhaps he’s a painter – take him to an art museum or a local gallery! Perhaps she loves science – surprise her with a trip to the natural history museum! Consider expanding both of your horizons and going to a museum that you would never have considered before; is there an unusual museum where you live? A quick search online should turn up many interesting options!

Tip: Go online or call ahead to find out if there’s a special Valentine’s Day exhibit or attraction happening where you plan to go.

Stroll through a park or take a hike.

If it’s possible, taking a romantic stroll through a park is a beautiful way to spend time with your honey and to enjoy time outside. Parks are lovely at any time of day, but especially when the sun is shining! Natural scenery is calming and a romantic walk in the park or hike in the woods is a wonderful way to spend time with your loved one. If you have kids, this is a great activity to involve them in!

Tip: Check the weather the night before so you won’t be surprised by rain or bad weather, and always have a backup plan.
